My trip to Galapagos Islands was in November 2007. I didn’t know exactly what to expect at Galapagos. All I knew was that Galapagos Islands are situated right on the equator, officially belong to Ecuador and there are volcanic islands with giant turtles and other wildlife.
Because Galapagos consist of well preserved 19 islands the best way to explore is on the boat. There are many cruises to choose from, I was on 8 day cruise, which took me to several islands. Galapagos doesn’t offer lush rainforest or many commercial shops. But from my point of view it is one of the best destination in the world where you can watch wildlife. The whole trip was one big adventure and every day you can be face to face with unordinary and bizarre animals, which you can’t find almost anywhere else. The main highlights include lying on the beach with seals, bizarre reptiles Iguanas, giant turtles, blue footed boobies, albatross colonies or rich marine life. Every day we went snorkeling and were lucky enough to swim with bizarre fish, scull of dolphins, seals and penguins. There are also plenty of beautiful beaches, volcanic tunnels and beautiful treks on the islands. The most amazing part for everyone is the animals reaction to the human presence, animals have no fear, they don’t run away and you can witness real behavior, just from couple of meters. They don’t mind cameras either. If you like wildlife and looking for an extraordinary experience, I truly recommend to you Galapagos as one of the best places in the world!
